Maltacom and Melita Cable have reached an agreement on the reciprocal use of their trenches and ducts and similar structures.

The agreement is retro-effective to April 1, 2000 and supersedes the 1992 agreement, which was also the subject of dispute over the past years, the companies said, adding that they looked forward to further cooperation in the future in a spirit of good will.

Disputes had broken out between employees of the two companies, in literal "trench-warfare" during works on the cable ducts in Maltacom trenches in 1999, soon after it became clear that Melita Cable planned to provide both data services and cable internet via its cables.
