I have been following the recent correspondence regarding Alex Manché's contract. I too was privileged to have been a patient of his.

I was shocked to read the letter by a Joseph Mizzi, I Was Left To Die (July 22), and the one by Paul Abela, Acclaim For Heart Surgeon (July 28).

Do I understand that the reluctance to refer difficult cases to a more senior colleague may have cost the lives of these two men?

I am dismayed by the total lack of response to these letters and the very serious allegations made by these two patients (will more of these horror stories emerge?) MAM, the Medical Council and the Health Department should investigate and reassure the public that no more patients' lives are put in jeopardy.
