The National Youth Council of Malta (KNZ, Kunsill Nazzjonali Zghazagh) joined the European Youth Forum in expressing deep regret at the assassination of Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh.
The European Youth Forum, of which Ms Lindh was a former activitist, expressed, on behalf of its members and young people in Europe, its deepest condolences to her family and friends.
"It is a tragic moment for the European Youth Forum, the youth movement in Europe and democracy," said EYF president Giacomo Filibeck. "Anna Lindh was our friend. Even while representing her country at the highest international level, she always had time to support Europe's youth movements. It is hard to accept this reality but we will always remember her."
Anna Lindh was a strong supporter of the values of youth organisations in Europe. Her involvement in the Youth Forum, began in 1978, when she represented the Swedish Youth Council (LSU) in the Youth Forum of the EU.
In its statement soon after the assassination, EYF said that Lindh always helped the youth movement to actively participate in the shaping of Europe.
