The environmental society FEE, of Minden, Germany, yesterday donated a lorry to be used for public tree planting and tree maintenance activities in Gozo.

The truck was presented to Minister for Gozo Giovanna Debono.

This re-conditioned lorry, which was driven all the way from Minden to Catania by two society members, is not the first donation the society has made to Malta. Over the last 11 years they have donated two fire-engines, a van, soil-mixing and drilling machinery and also extended help to the agriculture department for the Ghar Lapsi afforestation project as well as for the department's tree propagation programme.

These donations materialised following contacts between FEE president Burkart Schulte and his committee, and Joseph Borg, chairman of the Maltese Tree Society, International Tree Foundation and his committee.

Practically every year, a group of visitors from Minden spend their holidays in Malta. This time, they decided to holiday in Gozo.
