The role of journalism in discovering, dissecting and disseminating cultural information will be examined in a workshop starting next week directed by Donald Hutera, the dance critic of The Times of London.

Mr Hutera, who also writes for a number of influential magazines and newspapers, has also been a critic for film, theatre and visual arts.

The workshop, between Monday and May 24, is being organised by the Tumas Fenech Foundation for Education in Journalism and the British Council.

The approach will be more informative and pragmatic than academic, with a high concentration on discussion.

Short versus long pieces, knowing the market, researching a subject, interview techniques, dealing with editors and handling burn-out are among the issues that will be discussed.

Those interested may call on tel. 21223216.
