A cat, which was rescued from the middle of December 13 Road, Marsa and featured in The Times last month has been reunited with its toddler owner, two-and-a-half-year-old Shanaia Caruana.
It turns out that Twinky fell a height of three storeys from a window in their flat and dashed into the heavy traffic of December 13 Road where it was lightly hit by a car.
A kind-hearted person stopped to pick up the cat, which was wearing a flea collar, and handed it over to SOS Animals, who made it their mission to reunite it with its owners.
SOS Animals also displayed posters with a picture of Twinky in the area in the hope that its owner would spot it. Their hard work paid off and a few days ago Twinky was back to being spoilt rotten by Shanaia.
Shanaia's mother Grace said her daughter had spent hours hunting for Twinky behind the sofas after the cat disappeared.
Since the child missed the cat so much, her parents got her a puppy, named Foxy, which is not so happy that Twinky is back.
"I hope our pets get on now. It's not the first time Twinky disappeared. Over a year ago it fell out of the window again but it had broken its paw so it could not run off," Mrs Caruana said.
SOS Animals said they had a number of kittens looking for a loving home and anybody interested should call on 9984 5603.
The voluntary organisation has also embarked on a mission to collect money for a much-needed animal ambulance, which will be imported from the US and costs Lm30,000.
The idea is that the ambulance would be presented to the Civil Protection Department to operate it on a 24-hour basis.
