Two admit injuring a man during argument

The victim allegedly accidentally hit their mother

Two Rabat brothers have pleaded guilty to causing grievous injuries to a man.

The siblings – a 17-year-old boy and a 20-year-old construction worker – appeared before duty magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo on Monday, accused of grievously injuring the victim. The incident took place on Triq is-Saqqajja in Rabat on Saturday.

Details on what led to their arrest were scant, but it is understood that the victim allegedly accidentally hit their mother during an argument which led to a physical fight.

The pair admitted the charges and were found guilty.

The younger brother was put under a three-year probation order, while the older brother was handed a 12-month prison term suspended for three years. A restraining order was issued in favour of the victim.

Magistrate Caroline Farrugia Frendo presided. AG lawyer Brandon Bonnici prosecuted assisted by police inspector Cheyenne Mangion. Lawyer Alessandro Lia appeared for the brothers.
