Two men were yesterday arraigned in court, one accused with attempted murder, the other with usury.

Inspectors David Saliba and Kevin Farrugia arraigned Manwel Bezzina, 50 of Gharghur accusing him of the attempted murder of Mose Calvanico and of grievously injuring Mr Calvanico and his wife in Naxxar Road, Birkirkara on Saturday at around midday.

He was further accused of keeping a pointed instrument without a licence and of breaching the public peace.

In the other, unrelated, case, Inspector Saliba arraigned Oliver Demicoli, 28, of Birzebbuga on charges of usury and of being a relapser.
