Two arrested for suspected drug trafficking

The arrests were made following the arraignment of another man earlier this year

Two men are under arrest for alleged importation, possession and trafficking of drugs.

The two Dutch men were arrested during follow-up investigations after another man was arraigned earlier this year.

The two, aged 34 and 38, were arrested on Monday afternoon in Swieqi. During a search carried out at the residence of one of them in Swieqi, the police seized various items related to drug use, as well as around 890g of a substance suspected to be amphetamine and 550g of a substance suspected to be ketamine.

A search of the second man's house, in Kirkop, yielded suspected cocaine, false documents and drug-related items.

Magistrate Philip Galea Farrugia is holding an inquiry.

The two are due to be taken to court later on Wednesday.
