Two men were yesterday charged with dealing in cannabis.

Anthony Paul Portelli, 32, and Glenn Andrew Gorman, 31, of the UK were also charged with the possession of some 14 ecstasy pills in circumstances denoting they were not for their personal use last Wednesday.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges and requested bail.

Magistrate Antonio Mizzi heard how both men worked in Britain and were in Malta to visit family members.

He denied their request for bail at this stage. Police Inspector Neil Harrison prosecuted.

Dr Giannella Caruana Curran and Dr Emmanuel Mallia appeared for Portelli while Dr Chris Grima appeared for Gorman.
