Two men were yesterday charged with breaking into a car and one of them was also charged with stealing from another vehicle.

Reginald Bugeja, 32, of Rabat and Lineker Micallef, 18, of Birkirkara pleaded not guilty to stealing a handbag from Sylvana Vella's car, damaging it and relapsing on Tuesday.

Mr Bugeja was charged with stealing a mobile phone from Joseph Zerafa's car and damaging it while both were charged with breaching the conditions of a previous release and committing a crime during the operative time of a suspended jail term.

Magistrate Silvio Meli denied their request for bail at this stage.

Police Inspector Jeffery Cilia prosecuted.

Dr Chris Cardona and Dr Edward Gatt appeared for the men.
