Two men were yesterday charged with stealing a pay phone from a Naxxar supermarket on Friday.

Joseph Scerri, 34, of St Paul's Bay and Christopher Spiteri, 25, of Naxxar pleaded not guilty to stealing the pay phone and the coins it contained from Scott Supermarket and handling stolen property.

They also pleaded not guilty to heroin possession, relapsing and breaching a probation order, while Spiteri alone pleaded not guilty to committing a crime during the operative time of a suspended jail term.

The two men were remanded in custody.

Police Inspector Michael Mallia prosecuted.
