Two children to be sent to Give Kids the World

Give Kids the World is an international charity organisation represented in Malta by the Crowne Plaza Malta hotel.

Sandra Chetcuti, PA to the general manager, heard about Naomi Incorvaja's story when following L-Istrina of 2002, in which Mrs Incorvaja was being interviewed and was relating her daughter's story.

Ms Chetcuti felt that an extra effort had to be made to do something special for terminally ill Maltese children. Funds are being collected to make these children's last dreams come true, such as meeting 'Mickey Mouse'. Thanks to local businesses and individual benefactors, this is now possible.

Last August, arrangements were made for Roberta Abela from Birkirkara for her dream to come true, and she and her family were hosted at the Give Kids the World Village, in Florida.

On Roberta's return to Malta, her comments were: "I never expected the VIP treatment my family and I received during our eight-day stay in the Kids Village; from the airport welcome, the villa allocated to us, the use of a car so that we can travel and visit other areas in Florida; to the rides and the visits my sisters and I had when Mayor Clayton, the mascot of the Kids Village, came to put us to sleep. I will never forget this great experience."

In 1999 and 2000, the Crowne Plaza Malta sponsored two other children, Margaret and Marvin Lee, who travelled to the Kids Village in Florida and Disneyland Resort in Paris, respectively.

Give Kids the World offers children with a life-threatening illness the opportunity to enjoy a free holiday in the Kids Village, Florida, or Disneyland Resort in Paris. The holiday provides everlasting, precious memories of a happy time with the family, far away from hospitals and treatments.

Regrettably, Naomi's dream was not fulfilled as she passed away before her trip materialised.

Arrangements are being made for a little boy to travel to Disneyland Resort in Paris from December 18 to 21 and a little girl to the Kids Village in Florida next month, following her treatment in the UK.
