Autumn is a time of innovation, when new products are launched and companies gear up for a fresh round of sales at the various fairs and exhibitions around Europe.

With IndelB, the second major subsidiary (after kitchens) within the Berloni Group, there are two major innovations that have just hit the market: a double, side-by-side wine cellar, the CL72 Classic Twin, with a capacity of 72 wine bottles (36 on each side); and a free-standing mini-bar for hotel rooms with a standard size of 40 litres.

Speaking about the new models, Enrico Andreoli, IndelB's area sales manager for Malta, who was in Malta on his third annual visit last week, said the CL72 could easily be displayed in your dining room since it is finished in mahogany or walnut and has a nice, one-piece solid wood top so it almost looks like a small sideboard.

The temperature inside each compartment can be regulated independently, so you can store red wine at one temperature on one side and white wine at a lower temperature on the other. The compressor is very silent with minimal vibration thanks to small rubber shock absorbers similar to the ones used for hotel mini-bars. This model will be on sale at the Berloni showroom in Valley Road, Birkirkara, shortly.

The Iceberg mini-bar comes with a finish in wood or other material according to specification. Mr Andreoli, who is also responsible for Greece and Cyprus, apart from the whole of North Africa, said IndelB, a leader in this segment, will be having stands at the Genoa Boat Fair, where it will be showing its nautical range of refrigeration solutions, made in collaboration with Sweden's Thermoproducter, and at the Paris hotel exhibition, where its exhaustive range of mini-bars will be shown.

IndelB's range includes portable fridges for trucks, commercial vehicles and campers, and its products have also been installed by NASA on the Space Shuttle.

Commenting on the trend for a number of hotels to be converted to property developments, Mr Andreoli expressed disappointment because this would also mean lowering the potential for Malta to earn more income from tourism.
