Two treated for smoke inhalation following St Julian's apartment fire

CPD puts out fire in apartment at St George's Park complex

An apartment block in St Julian’s was temporarily evacuated and two residents treated for smoke inhalation following a fire inside a fourth-floor bedroom on Saturday afternoon.

Firefighters from the Civil Protection Department’s fire stations 4 and 11 were called to the St George’s Park apartment complex following reports of a structural fire.

They traced the flames to a fourth-floor bedroom and quickly brought it under control using four fire pumps and one turntable ladder.

“As a precautionary measure, a full evacuation of the building was carried out to ensure the safety of all occupants,” the CPD said in a statement.

“Two casualties suffering from smoke inhalation were treated by a medical team from the Emergency Department of the Mater Dei Hospital and were subsequently discharged at the scene.”

Police officers assisted the CPD in the evacuation of the building.
