Following its October meeting in Rome, the Union of Mediterranean Confederations of Enterprises (UMCE), of which the FOI is a founding and active member, held another general assembly on Monday in Tunisia.

FOI deputy president Adrian Bajada attended this assembly, which also involved the opening of UMCE's official premises in Tunis.

One of the items on the assembly's agenda was the extension of the "Unimed business network" project. It was being proposed that, on the basis of the UMCE strategic plan and the results of the Unimed BN project, this extension would focus on the implementation of three main objectives: economic integration; organisation reinforcement of South Mediterranean business associations; and upgrading SMEs.

The 13 participating officials from ten Mediterranean countries forming part of UMCE also discussed a joint press statement issued by UMCE and the Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe (UNICE), of which the federation is also a member. This statement related to investments for better Euro-Med integration.
