A 26-year-old Irishman was yesterday unconditionally discharged for defiling a 16-year-old girl.
The man, whose name cannot be published by court order, pleaded guilty to the charge after the court learned that the police had to take action against the man simply because the girl was not yet of age.
The man and the girl were charged with offending public morals and she was also unconditionally discharged.
Police Inspector Martin Sammut prosecuted.
