World Record Diving Malta will be supporting lead diver Sean McGahern in his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the Longest Warm Open-Water Scuba Dive by enduring 60 hours underwater without breaking the surface at any time.

The attempt is being made between October 3 and 5 at Starfish Diving School, St George’s Bay. WRDMalta dive team and the St John’s Rescue Corps will offer a happy hour of free try dives for non-divers.

During his time under water Mr McGahern and the team will clean the seabed of debris which has not yet been developed into a home to any marine life.

The organisers will also be hosting a scuba-diving demonstration weekend in collaboration with Corinthia Hotels. International and local enterprises will be exhibiting the latest dive gear available on the market for visitors to try out in the bay during the event.

Three-day admission tickets (€10) may be acquired from Starfish Diving School & Henry J Beans, Corinthia Hotel, St George’s Bay.

Proceeds will be donated to Inspire, a non-profit organisation that provides therapeutic, education and leisure services to persons with disabilities in Malta and Gozo.
