The number of people registering for work in September stood at 6,599, compared with 7,619 in the same month last year. The number in August was 6,698.
The National Statistics Office said data provided by the Employment and Training Corporation recorded decreases in registered unemployment among all age-groups with the larger difference being recorded among registrants aged 30-44 (-277).
When compared to September last year, an increase of 37 persons was recorded among those who had been registering for employment for more than one year.
In a statement in the afternoon, the Education Ministry said the NSO had confirmed the positive results in the sector with the number of unemployed dropping by five people a day in the past eight months.
