A flamingo landed at Verdala grounds in Cospicua during a training session of the Hibs U17s late yesterday evening.

The bird, which looked tired, was given water and taken to a police station at about 10.30 p.m..

The bird was then handed to Birdlife which have since released it.

The arrival of a number of flamingos was announced by the FKNK earlier this week. It said it alerted the police and guard was mounted overnight before most of them flew off. Some stayed on however. The FKNK did not say where the flamingos landed.

One was seen flying our of Ghadira nature reserve yesterday at noon.
