An unidentified man suffered serious injuries while operating machinery at work.

The police said the accident happened at around 4.45pm on Friday on Triq il-Belt Valletta in Żurrieq.

Civil Protection Department officers provided first aid on site. The man was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital.

Magisterial and police inquiries are ongoing.
