The General Workers' Union has invited employers' organisations to appoint two representatives to the ad-hoc health and safety committee.

The GWU's national conference on health and safety last week decided to set up the committee, to be named after Turu Micallef.

The aim of the committee is to map out an awareness campaign within three months, together with a practical and strategic plan.

The invitation was sent to the Federation of Industry, the Malta Employers' Association, the Confed-eration of Trade Unions, the forum and the Health and Safety Authority.
