The industrial tribunal yesterday confirmed that the Union Haddiema Maghqudin was the union which had negotiated on behalf of the engineering section of the Malta Freeport, the UHM said in a statement.

Primary recognition to the UHM, awarded by the Freeport itself, had been suspended in 2002 following protests by the General Workers' Union, the UHM said.

The case was taken to the tribunal, which decided that the UHM had the majority of the employees.

The UHM is to meet with the freeport's management to conclude the collective agreement for these workers and will be meeting the engineering section in the coming days.
