In the FA Cup, Manchester United eased into the fourth round thanks to a 3-0 win over South-ampton but Chelsea will be involved in a replay after the shock home draw with Southend.

In midweek, United fielded a patched-up side in the League Cup semi-final, first leg against Derby at Pride Park. They ended up losing 1-0 to Nigel Clough's team .

This weekend's fixtures are the return of those played on September 20-21 when Chelsea and United shared the points in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Last season, the two championship contenders met in three competitions. In the Community Shield, United won 3-0 on penalties after a 1-1 draw and in the Premier League, both sides won their home encounter.

The other meeting took place in Moscow in the first Champions League final to feature two English teams. United prevailed 6-5 in a nail-biting penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw at the end of extra-time.

The last time United suffered a home defeat to Chelsea in the league was in 2004-05 when they lost 1-3 (Van Nistelrooy; Tiago, Gudjohnsen, Joe Cole).

Chelsea are boosted by the return of captain John Terry who missed the last three matches because of suspension.

Torres back

Current Premier League leaders Liverpool will be on their travels again after their 2-0 win at Preston in the FA Cup in their previous outing.

The Reds take on Stoke at the Britannia Stadium. They will be looking to make up for the surprise 0-0 draw against Tony Pulis's side at Anfield.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez insisted this week that he wants to hold on to Andrea Dossena and Daniel Agger.

The Potters were shocked at lowly Hartlepool in the FA Cup, losing 2-0.

Kolo Toure and Denilson may return for the Londoners after injuries. However, William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre are out.

Bolton have transferred striker Heidar Helguson to QPR. In the nine Premier League matches at the Arsenal backyard, the Wanderers have never tasted victory. Their last win at Arsenal in the top flight goes back to 1961-62 (2-1).

At Goodison Park, Everton will seek to improve their disappointing home record of two wins in their clash with Hull. The Toffees have won four of their last five matches in the league and cup.

Everton's Leighton Baines is delighted to be part of an all-English back four after the Blues kept a fifth consecutive clean sheet against Macclesfield in the FA Cup.

Tomorrow, at the JJB Stadium, Wigan cross swords with Tottenham, who beat Burnley 4-1 in the home leg of their League Cup semi-final in midweek.

Boss Harry Redknapp has completed the signing of striker Jermain Defoe from Portsmouth.

However, two West Ham stalwarts, Scott Parker and Craig Bellamy, could be on their way out as they have already attracted a double bid from Manchester City.

Middlesbrough and Sunderland meet in their second northeast derby after the first went to the Black Cats, 2-0. Djibril Cisse and Kenwyne Jones have established themselves as Sunderland's first-choice strikers. The Frenchman has netted six in 11 matches and Jones scored four in his last five appearances.

Portsmouth take on Manchester City - the two sides have been quite busy in the opening days of the transfer market. Yet, Pompey boss Tony Adams doesn't have the cash Mark Hughes has at his disposal as the City manager is backed by the Abu Dhabi sheiks.

At Eastlands, earlier in the season, City hit Pompey for six.
