Over 60 University and secondary school students from all over Europe took part in the Summer Week 2002, which is being organised by the European Co-ordination of the International Young Catholic Students - International Movement of Catholic Students (IYCS/IMCS).
MKSU, the Christian organisation at the University of Malta, which is a full member of IYCS/IMCS, hosted this event at the Archbishop's Seminary this week.
The theme of this year's Summer Week was: "Who are the poor in today's Europe?" During their stay the participants discussed the opportunity to discuss this theme in different working groups as well as in plenary sessions. The discussions, which included input sessions by experts, focussed on the problem of poverty, social issues, issues of human dignity and human rights, values and also theological reflections.
The University students and secondary school students had different sessions. Both categories presented their projects and conclusions at the end of the Summer Week. Other activities included a European Banquet, a multicultural evening, a BBQ, a party and a day in Gozo.
MKSU would like to thank all those companies and entities which have helped in the organisation of this activity. The summer week will be concluded today.
