During the long summer holidays, the University Summer School will again be providing an interesting and varied programme for children aged three to ten between mid-July and early September.
Activities, many of them held in an airconditioned environment, include sports and games; art and craft; dance and movement; swimming; IT; Edward de Bono's Thinking Skills and excursions to places of interest.
Based on the "Learning through Play" concept, highly dedicated and qualified teachers will deliver all classroom based activities. This year, "Kids on Campus" will be introducing the concept of subject teaching which will ensure the professional delivery of each particular programme by a teacher qualified in the field.
Both an indoor facility and the new artificial-turfed ground which will also be covered with UV netting to provide full sun-protection, will be used for the PE and Games Programme. The Dance Programme will be held in one of the theatres. Some 18 computers with the latest software packages installed and Internet access provide the hardware for the IT and Internet Programme. The Swimming Programme will once again be held at the National Swimming Pool Complex under the watchful eye of highly qualified swimming instructors.
"Kids on Campus" will run daily between July 15 and September 6 with a break on August 15 (public holiday) and August 16 only. Hours are from 9 a.m. to noon but supervision will be provided from 7.45 to 9 a.m. and from 12.30 to 1.45 p.m. at no additional cost.
Due to the demand, more places have been made available. Anyone who would like further information and a brochure may call 2340-2134 or 2340-3165, or e-mail: bbon1@um.edu.mt.
