University's sports facilities

The University sports and recreational facilities are made available to all students on request. Outdoor facilities include a football pitch, an athletics track, two tennis courts, a basketball/volleyball court, and a handball/five-a-side football court.

Outdoor facilities include a football pitch, an athletics track, two tennis courts, a basketball/volleyball court, and a handball/five-a-side football court. The sports complex offers opportunities for students to use multi-purpose gym equipment for fitness training, table-tennis tables and billiard tables. An area for wrestling has also been provided recently.

University students also have the opportunity to take study units in sports. These include running, swimming, fitness sessions, First Aid, outdoor pursuits and also organisational work in sport with the University.

An Olympic-size swimming and diving pool in the University grounds was inaugurated for the fifth Games of the Small States of Europe in May, 1993. Students can benefit from special rates for the use of the pool. A multi-purpose sports hall was also completed recently.

The University Sports Club Committee, composed of elected students together with the sports director, organises inter-faculty competitions during the academic year. University teams in football, volleyball, table-tennis, handball, sailing and wrestling take part in national competitions.
