The Occupational Health and Safety Authority has sent an official to investigate in St Catherine Street, Attard, where an unharnessed construction worker was this morning photographed by a concerned reader.

The reader said he tried to contact the OHSA about the worker, who was some three storeys high, but found an answering machine at the other end of the telephone line.

OHSA senior manager (communications and pr) Melhino Mercieca said however, that the authority immediately took action on reading the report and sent its official on duty to investigate.

Mr Mercieca said that although the authority’s offices are closed on Saturday, the answering machine on line 2124 7677 gives callers two options - to contact an official on duty in case of urgent matters (it also gives the relevant number for such cases) or to leave a message if the case is not urgent.
