The National Blood Transfusion Unit has issued an urgent appeal for blood, especially A Positive and O Positive.

The unit said it required 76 bags of O Positive blood and 34 bags of A Positive blood for patients who are waiting for surgical interventions.

The unit, situated close to St Luke's Hospital in Guardamangia, is open till 6pm. Donors need to present their ID card.
