The Austin-class Amphibious Transport Dock, the USS Nashville, arrived yesterday for a short visit.

The ship's commanding officer is Captain Dennis Watson. The USS Nashville has a complement of 28 officers and 332 enlisted personnel.

The ship is named in honour of Brigadier General Francis Nash, Continental Army, who gave his life to ensure the independence of the colonies during the American Revolutionary War. The city of Nashville was named after him.
