A Birkirkara man was yesterday charged with usury.

Patrick Pace, 38, pleaded not guilty to illegally lending money to Joseph Friggieri against interest and threatening him on and before July 23.

In a separate, unrelated case, Friggieri, 38, of Bugibba was charged with defrauding Emanuel Mifsud of Lm6,700 on and before July 25.

Both men were granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm2,000.

Inspector Joseph Cordina prosecuted while Dr Chris Cardona appeared for Pace and Dr Franco Debono for Friggieri.
