It's been seven months since we received our last electricity bill, which was an actual for the six months before.

Since then we have not received any bills or had our meter read and we are not the only family having this problem - it seems to be widespread, which is really worrying.

Not receiving these bills when they should be sent is putting a lot of undue pressure on families and businesses alike. Not knowing what these bills are going to be is causing us to divert any spare cash we might have left over from our income away from things like going out for a meal or buying clothes or any item we might require for our day-to-day use and holding it back in case we need it for the bills.

This in itself is having an effect on the economy.

We have been informed that the new rates will be implemented as from January 1, with the price going up amid more economic worry and more uncertainty regarding jobs. What have we done to deserve this comedy of errors?

Is this the better life I voted for when I voted Yes to Europe? I'm running from room to room putting out the lights, watching TV in the cold and worrying about the employment situation.

God help us! We need divine intervention to get us out of this mess.
