Valencia said yesterday that Getafe coach Quique Sanchez Flores had agreed to take charge of the club next season and Arsenal midfielder Edu would sign a five-year deal with the Primera Liga side.

Brazilian international Edu finishes his contract with English Premier League club Arsenal at the end of June and will join Valencia as a free agent from July 1.

"He's an extraordinary player," said Valencia president Juan Bautista Soler when he announced the signing during the presentation of the club's new sporting director Javier Subirats at the Mestalla.

The 27-year-old, who moved to Highbury in January 2001 from Corinthians for a reported fee of six million pounds, had been a regular in the Arsenal first team.
