Valletta have received a boost ahead of their Europa League match against Welsh side Newtown AFC tomorrow evening after four of their foreign players finally secured a UK visa to travel to Wales.

While the Valletta squad headed to Wales yesterday afternoon, Tunisian winger Abdelkarim Nafti and new signings Calictus Umeh (Nigeria), Thierry Tazemeta (Equatorial Guinea) and Maxim Focsa (Moldova) flew out to Paris in a last-ditch bid to obtain a UK visa from the British Embassy in the French capital after the club encountered difficulties to have their visa applications processed in time in Malta.

Victor Sciriha, the president of Valletta FC,  confirmed to Times of Malta that the four players, who were accompanied in Paris by club official David Xuereb, have been issued with a UK visa and are due to travel to Wales later today.

Valletta will meet Newtown AFC in the first leg of their Europa League first qualifying round tie tomorrow at Latham Park. The return leg will be played a week later at the Hibernians Stadium.
