In the light of the statement made by the Valletta mayor, who said that his council was responsible for refurbishing the Upper and Lower Barrakka, Hastings Gardens and a considerable length of paving, spending about Lm3 million, I would like to ask the following:

Where does the Valletta Rehabilitation Projects Office under Ray Bondin fit in? Many recall the signs and even press releases that stated that this office was responsible for these projects. The mayor did not even mention this office.

Why didn't Paul Borg Olivier at least thank Dr Bondin and his office under the Ministry for Resources and Infrastructure for their involvement in these projects? Wouldn't this have been appropriate in the circumstances?

If it is true that the Valletta local council was responsible for spending Lm3 million on these projects, where did they get the money from?

Is it not true that the local councils do not have these kinds of funds because I personally heard many councils grumble that the central government is reducing their funds year after year?

It has never been heard that any local council in Malta at any time had similar funds. If the Valletta local council does have these funds then why are other local councils round Malta not given the same funds so they can also have the same opportunity to carry out similar, much-needed projects?
