Recently, while parked at Marsamxett Wharf, I was fined for "going into the city of Valletta without the necessary licence". Now the sign on the ring road adjacent to the former Excelsior Hotel specifies that "non-Valletta licence holders are allowed to circulate strictly within the ring road".

It would appear that for some odd reason (revenue generation?) the warden service interprets this as meaning that one cannot park, either on the ring road nor further out from it in an area which is obviously not within Valletta's confines.

Unfortunately it is patently obvious that the warden service is there only to generate revenue and not to ensure the just enforcement of the traffic laws. From now on, to venture out with the car one will have to start carrying a lawyer along - and even that will not be enough to protect one from the rapacious warden service!

I appeal to our MPs and to the local consumer protection organisations to protect us, the road tax-paying public, from the repeated gross injustices that are being perpetrated at our expense.

This is very much a case of the straw that broke the camel's back!
