Valletta Waterfront's Christmas Village, held in the historic setting of Pinto Wharf, raised more than Lm4,000 for the Eden Foundation. Apart from a range of Christmas activities, visitors to the event had the opportunity to sample the atmosphere that Valletta Waterfront will provide once it opens to the public in June.

"In just over six months time Valletta Waterfront will open to the public, providing a new and unique location for people to relax, shop and dine. The Christmas Village was an opportunity for people to have a taste of the atmosphere which they will soon be able to enjoy all year round. The large number of people who visited the Christmas Village is an indication of the keen interest of the Maltese public in this project," said Dirk Spiteri Lucas, business manager at Valletta Waterfront.

Following a call for applications made last June, more than 200 businesses submitted expressions of interest in order to begin operating from Valletta Waterfront in 2005. The successful applicants are now in the process of being informed and in the near future work will begin within the Pinto Vaults in order for Valletta Waterfront to be ready to welcome the public.
