The Valletta Waterfront Wine Fest returns next week
Relaxed atmosphere for both wine lovers and those simply looking for a casual night out
The Valletta Waterfront Wine Fest will return this June following the success of its inaugural edition last year, offering four evenings of wine tasting, live entertainment and waterfront dining along Malta’s elegant Grand Harbour.
Taking place between Tuesday, June 9 and Friday, June 12, the festival complements the Valletta Waterfront’s offering of harbour views, music and gastronomy, adding to the atmosphere of one of Malta’s most recognisable promenades.
The festival will feature a range of local and international wines available through tasting stations spread across the waterfront.Set against the backdrop of the Grand Harbour, the Valletta Waterfront is known for its historic warehouses and colourful façades dating back to the time of the Knights of St John. Located within proximity to Valletta and Floriana, and overlooking the Three Cities, Valletta Waterfront is a popular destination, frequented by both locals and visitors, with both outdoor space on its canopied terraces, and indoor space within historic restored vaults.
The festival will feature a range of local and international wines available through tasting stations spread across the waterfront. Entrance is free, but visitors may purchase a €20 wine package from a stand located in the central promenade, which includes four wine tokens and a commemorative wine glass, while stocks last. Standard wines will be available for one token, with selected premium wines redeemable for two.
Among the wines on offer will be Maltese varieties produced using indigenous grapes such as Girgentina and Ġellewża. Malta and Gozo Wines Brand Ambassador Joséf Bonello will also be present, sharing insights into the local wine industry and Malta’s winemaking heritage.
Alongside the wine experience, the festival will include live performances by local acts Fakawi, Janvil and Kevin Paul throughout the four-day programme, with further select busking activities along the strolling promenade.
The various restaurants dotting the waterfront will also be serving a variety of dishes including grills, seafood, pizza, platters, desserts, cocktails and more.
The festival aims to create a relaxed atmosphere for both wine lovers and those simply looking for a casual night out. Interactive wine-themed activities and games will also take place throughout the festival, with vouchers redeemable at Valletta Waterfront up for grabs as prizes.
