The stone flooring next to Renzo Piano’s new Valletta entrance transforms into a mesmerising, ever-changing carpet of geometric designs at night.
An intriguing light show, designed by the experimental and multidisciplinary artist Miguel Chevalier, Pixels Wave 2015, is an interactive reality installation of moving lights in front of Parliament.
It changes the flooring into a set of random multi-coloured scenes, each of a different colour, made up of symbolic motifs using mathematical symbols, fragments of Malta’s history and the digital universe.
It forms part of the Malta International Arts Festival and will run through until August 3.
The artist was born in Mexico City in 1959 but has been living in Paris since 1985.
For more than 40 years, he has focused on computers as an artistic means of expression and is internationally recognised as a pioneer of virtual and digital art.
