Jason Vassallo captured the first title of the season in Gozo when he lifted the Gozo Snooker Cup after beating Shaun Sultana 7-5 last week.

The Premier Division contest, played at the Leone Band Club, was followed with keen interest by a sizeable crowd as Sultana was making his first showing in a final of a competition organised by the Gozo Billiards and Snooker Association. The referee was Charles Camilleri.

During the presentation ceremony, the association confirmed that they will be organising a 26-hour snooker marathon and play a one-day tournament against Valletta's Anglo-Maltese Club. Both events will be held at the Leone Band Club.

It was also announced that Sultana will represent Malta at the European U-19 Championship to be played at the Dolmen Resort Hotel in March.

Division One: Winner - James Sultana; runner-up - Jason Portelli.

Division Two: Winner - Peter Bonello; runner-up - Dennis Mompalao.

Division Three: Winner - Ian Bonnici; runner-up - Anthony Scicluna.
