Bernard Manduca has based his letter (September 2) on the vehicular exit out of Swieqi on the entrance/exit for the Swieqi area bounded by the Regional Road and St Andrew's Road. No mention is made of the dangerous exit/entrance on the other side of Swieqi, that is the Villa Rosa Junction which leads to the Bay Street complex/St George's area.
This is one of the busiest junctions into St Andrew's Road and one of the most dangerous, especially for drivers exiting towards the Pembroke lights, owing to a view-obstructing wall and the high speed at which vehicles travel down St Andrew's Road.
Taking into consideration the volume of traffic using this junction, and the fact that this is the only exit available for residents of the Villa Rosa area, I hope Swieqi local council has included this problem in their discussions with the traffic control board.
One should also consider the possibility of some sort of crossing for bus commuters and the considerable number of people who cross St Andrew's Road at this point to go to the Bay Street/St George's Bay area.
