Video shows farmers' close shave as fireworks factory exploded
The two men had gone to rescue their father, who was in a nearby field
A new video has emerged showing how two men were lucky to escape serious injury on Monday when a fireworks factory blew up as they drove past.
The two men, Reuben and Kevin Camilleri, said they were in a nearby chicken farm - Dun Gorg Preca Farm - when the first blast took place.
They got into their white van and drove as fast as they could to help their father, who was out in the nearby fields.
As they stopped, huge explosions rocked the fireworks factory, showering their vehicle with debris as they sought shelter behind a wall. Since the wall was on a site below the factory, the blast went over them, but one of them suffered slight injuries.
"We went there only because our father was there. We did not intend to go there, but we knew our father was in the field and we wanted to see if he was okay," one of the men said.
Their father Victor Camilleri told Times of Malta on Tuesday that he sought shelter in a small room, which then collapsed around him, injuring his foot.
