Violinist and orchestra leader André Rieu returns to Malta this weekend

The concerts feature pop duo Los del Río of 'Macarena' fame and a line-up of international soloists

Dutch violinist and orchestra leader André Rieu returns to Malta for concerts this Friday and Saturday night.

The instrumentalist and conductor, known for his lively performances in period costumes with his Johann Strauss Orchestra, will perform two concerts at the Granaries in Floriana.

The visit marks Rieu’s second visit to Malta, following a popular performance in 2023.

The concerts feature performances from pop duo Los del Río of Macarena fame and a line-up of international soloists.

In a statement, the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) said the country “remains one of the few destinations offering audiences the unique experience of grand outdoor concerts”.

MTA chairman Charles Mangion said the authority was “honoured” to welcome Rieu back to Malta, describing the performances as a “once-in-a-lifetime experience”. Mangion was given a tour of the stage ahead of the performance.

Tourism Minister Ian Borg said Rieu’s concerts generate “significant positive impact for our economy, benefiting our communities and showcasing Malta’s hospitality to thousands of visitors”.

Rieu’s Johann Strauss Orchestra performs some 130 concerts annually, the MTA noted.
