Maltese nationals travelling to Egypt, Turkey and Morocco will as from tomorrow require an entry visa prior to their departure from Malta, the Department of Information said yesterday.

When contacted, a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Maltese government had introduced visas for nationals hailing from the three countries in question as a result of aligning its visa policy with that of the European Union.

Visitors from Egypt, Turkey and Morocco would need to have a visa in their possession to travel to Malta. These countries are among those whose nationals would require a visa in terms of EU regulations.

"The Maltese government will align its visa policy with that of the EU as smoothly as possible.

"The need for a visa would in no way hinder bona fide business people and visitors.

"Visas for Libyan nationals will be introduced on Malta's accession to the EU," the source said.
