FISEC International Bureau officials, Didier Rivereau, of France, and Matt Pieters, of Holland, recently visited the island to inspect the final preparations and organisation of the 56th FISEC Games in Malta between July 18 and 24. Rivereau and Pieters were accompanied by FISEC International general secretary Gianfranco Selvaggi.

During a meeting with the Malta FISEC Council, chaired by Bro. Martin Borg, the international delegation discussed various matters and also approved the programme of the competitions for this summer.

Other aspects related to the Games, like the accommodation of athletes and transport, were on the agenda. Rivereau and Pieters also had the opportunity to visit the sport venues hosting the Games next month.

Bro. Borg said his organisation is receiving the necessary support from the authorities. He also announced that Tinu (picture above) will be the mascot while the motto of the Games is "Fair Play is the winning way."

Over 1,000 athletes and officials will be taking part in the 2004 FISEC Games.
