The Decorative and Fine Arts Society of Malta will present its fourth lecture at Le Meridien Hotel in St Julian’s at 6.30pm today, featuring lecturer Peter Medhurst.
His presentation, entitled Vivaldi in Venice, will include live music and song and will focus on the works of Vivaldi, evoking the most elegant and refined city in 18th century Europe.
Medhurst is a musician and scholar, and regularly gives recitals and delivers illustrated lectures on music and the arts in the UK. He studied singing and early keyboard instruments at the Royal College of Music and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. His lectures include live music sung and played on piano, virginals or clavichord.
During this lecture Medhurst will explore the world of Vivaldi’s music. He will present the music of Vivaldi as it relates to the city of Venice.
