An AD MEP would work in the European Parliament for a better quality of life for all, AD chairman and MEP candidate said.
He said the government’s decision to opt for a turbine at Delimara which burned a dirty fuel and created tonnes of toxic waste every day was worrying and a step backwards.
Investment in clean and alternative energy would lead to affordable and clean energy. Depending on the fluctuations of the oil market was dangerous for the Maltese economy, he said.
AD candidate Yvonne Arqueros Ebejer said that the negativity of other parties during this campaign was not conducive to a mature approach to politics.
She said she was pleased that at the end of the campaign Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi was agreeing that maternity leave should be increased to at least 20 weeks, even though his government opposed increasing maternity leave in EU institutions.
Prof. Cassola appealed to those who wanted to pass on a strong message to the government to vote AD.
“Not voting will not drive the message home. Not voting will not being about any kind of change. Voting and electing an AD MEP will smash the current stale status quo,” he said.
