I did not know whether to laugh or cry when a few days ago I heard members of our Parliament declaring to a reporter of a local station that they have not read the Lisbon Treaty or have little knowledge of its contents.

These are the same MPs who some time ago voted in favour of Malta accepting the Lisbon Treaty.

Funny, isn't it? Voting for something yet not knowing what it involves.

How can we take these people seriously when they say they voted (for or against a proposed law) in the interests of the people when often they do not know what they voted for?
