I am one of those who voted for Arnold Cassola, with the sole intention of having a fresh voice speak for the good of our environment.
Besides my big disappointment of not seeing Dr Cassola elected, I ended up being blamed for helping the Labour Party to elect a third candidate.
Such comments, I believe, are undemocratic and unfair. If the outcome is the result of a faulty system, then this system has to be amended at once. After all it was Dr Gonzi himself who claimed that if similar results would have come up in a general election, we would have serious problems.
The solution is not to blame those who decided to vote according to their own beliefs, but to see why the results have ended up this way. And the irony of it all? I did not vote for any of the Labour candidates!
