W.M. McKinney of Letterkenny Ireland, manufacturers of "Oatfields" confectionery products, recently appointed Raymax Ltd of St Venera as their new distributors for Malta.
This appointment follows the company's decision to revive the leading position in this segment, formerly enjoyed in the local market.
William McKinney can trace its origins since 1900, originally owning a wholesale and retail grocery and confectionery business. His two sons, Ira and Haddon, started the manufacture of Fruit Drops in a small shed behind the retail shop in 1927, purchasing the present site to build a small factory three years later.
From 1930 to the 1960s they produced solely for the Irish market, and first exported their products to Canada and Malta in 1964.
Today, manufacturing exceeds 55 tons of sweets weekly, exported to 50 countries, consisting of high boiled sweets, toffees, éclairs and chocolate caramels, marketed in bulk, rolls, 100/200 g bags and in an assortment of gift packs.
In conjunction with this new appointment, W.M. McKinney has consented to promote their most significant product range, the Rolls, which have recently been innovatively repackaged, on two local route buses.
Raymax Ltd are also the exclusive distributors of Damhert, diabetic and health food products; Opavia, diabetic wafers; Maestrani Swiss chocolates; Rascals, chocolate coated raisins and nuts; Pamir, marshmallow and gum products; Luna, natural mineral water; Swedish Match & Tetra, safety matches, and FornoDamiani, Italian snacks.
